Caldwell Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Cooper Nickel as its new Medical Director effective August 1. Dr. Nickel, a native of Lindsborg, Kansas, brings a lifelong passion for family medicine and rural healthcare to his new role, where he looks forward to serving the local community with comprehensive, family-centered care.
In his role as medical director, Dr. Nickel will work closely with the CEO to uphold a standard of high-quality care and risk management through leadership, expertise, and coordination of medical staff.
His inspiration for practicing medicine began from watching his physician father build lasting relationships with patients in their community.
"I have a deep love for rural medicine," said Dr. Nickel. "Getting to know a community on a personal level makes taking care of everyone extremely rewarding and satisfying."
Dr. Nickel completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas and earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He finished his residency at the Smoky Hills Family Residency Program in Salina, Kansas, and is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.
"Dr. Nickel's commitment to rural medicine and his dedication to family care make him a perfect fit for our hospital and community," said Chris Graham, the hospital’s chief executive officer. "We are thrilled to welcome him to our team."
Dr. Nickel's wife, Lynda, is a registered nurse, and they have two children, Charlie and Piper. The family enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and exploring new playgrounds.
